A leading National Security Solutions company Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. announced that Command, Control, Communications, Computing, Combat & Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Division of the company has received a contract to work in the U.S. Air Force’s Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program as part of Northrop Grumman-led team.
Kratos C5ISR Division has been remained a major provider of products, hardware, systems and subsystems that work for unmanned aerial vehicle, high powered directed energy, missiles, missile defense, radar, surface combatant and various other combat and weapon systems and programs.
Northrop Grumman was selected by the U.S. Air Force to work for modernizing nation’s aging intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system. Under the contract, Northrop Grumman will work for the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the GBSD program. Where Kratos will offer its engineering services, manufacture and production of specialized ground support systems, which include the highly complex missile transporters and payload transporters that are requried in the program.
According to the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, the effort will span with the period of 8.5 years and it includes a weapon system design, qualification, test and evaluation and nuclear certification.
President of the Kratos C5ISR Division Tom Mills said, “We have been preparing for over a year and are ready to deliver on our commitments to our partner Northrop Grumman and the U.S. Air Force for a successful EMD phase.
