Canadian-American businessman, inventor, and investor lon Musk was born in South Africa. Elon Musk has a $198 billion net worth. His current roles as CEO and CTO of SpaceX, CEO and chief product architect of Tesla Motors, and chairman of SolarCity are what make him most well-known, despite the fact that he wears numerous hats and is always topping his most recent effort. He currently holds the title of both the richest individual in the world and in contemporary history.
Elon Musk currently controls around 24 percent of Tesla’s outstanding shares and 43 percent of privately held SpaceX as of this writing. Tesla’s market capitalization first surpassed $1 trillion in October 2021. In the same month, SpaceX raised funds valued at $100 billion. Elon’s net worth was now for the first time hovering over $300 billion.
Early Life and Career
Musk, who was raised in South Africa by an engineer father and a nutritionist mother, left home at the age of 17 to attend college in Canada, partly to avoid being drafted into the South African army during the apartheid era. He enrolled at Stanford University after earning physics and economics degrees at the University of Pennsylvania. After a few days, he left to focus on his three main interests: the Internet, clean energy, and space.
In 1995, he founded Zip2, an internet publishing platform, which he ultimately sold for more than $300 million. He invested a portion of the earnings to launch the online payment platform X.com. He would combine that with the online store that would eventually become PayPal and be sold to eBay in 2002 for $1.5 billion.
His upcoming endeavour is SpaceX, a small rocket business that NASA hired to replace the space shuttle in its capacity as the station’s primary supplier. He co-founded Tesla, the business that created the first all-electric, zero-emission sports vehicle in the world in 2010, a year later. The business issued shares in a public offering the same year.
His third business, SolarCity, sold solar power equipment. On November 21, 2016, Tesla acquired SolarCity, which had offered shares in a public sale in 2012.
Musk joined Warren Buffett’s Giving Pledge in April 2012. Musk has stated he plans to retire on Mars.
In July 2020, Tesla became the most valued automaker in the world, and subsequent gains helped Musk become the richest person in the world in January 2021. He declared that Tesla would relocate its corporate headquarters from Palo Alto, California to Austin, Texas in October 2021.
In April 2022, Musk disclosed that he had bought a stake in Twitter Inc., a social media firm. In the end, the board decided to endorse Musk’s proposal to buy the remaining shares of the business.
Elon Musk: Relationships
At Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, Elon and Justine (née Wilson) first connected in the late 1990s. After two years of an essentially on-and-off romance, the couple wed in 2000 and went on to raise five sons—one set of twins and one set of triplets—together. The pair eventually parted in 2008.
In 2008, Musk first ran upon Westworld actress Talulah Riley in a London club. The two hit it off right away. The couple’s romance developed swiftly, and two years after they first met, they were married in 2010. However, the pair filed for divorce two years later in 2012, and Musk tweeted, “The four years were incredible. I’ll always love you. One day, you’ll bring a lot of joy to someone.” However, the couple’s divorce was finalised in 2016, after which they remarried in July 2013.
While it’s unclear exactly when these two started dating, it’s generally accepted that they did so between 2016 and 2017, after his breakup with Riley and hers with Johnny Depp.
These two connected in typical Grimes style when he slid into her DMs in response to a joke she made about artificial intelligence. A few weeks after the rumours first surfaced, the couple made their red carpet couple debut at the Met Gala. After he temporarily stopped following her on Instagram in March 2020, there were rumours that the couple had broken up. When they revealed in May of that year that they had welcomed their first child together, they disproved everyone’s assumptions. Despite divorcing in September 2021, they had a second child together in December of that same year.
Since she was first photographed exiting Musk’s private flight and leaving in a chauffeured Tesla earlier this year, Bassett, who you might recognise from Austin Butler’s upcoming Elvis film, has been linked to Musk.
At a cost of $54.20 per share, Elon Musk will pay around $44 billion to acquire Twitter. Twitter’s stock price on June 21, 2022, was $38.91. Twitter will become a privately held firm once the purchase is finalised.
If the merger goes through, each share of common stock that a shareholder owns will be worth $54.20 in cash, without interest and subject to any relevant withholding taxes.
