Invincible Season 2 Episode 1 Release Date: Is Invincible season 2 coming out?

invincible season 2 release date

Before season one of Amazon’s Prime Video Invincible had even ended, fans had already started asking for season two on social media. That’s what we mean by dedication, right?

Fortunately, Amazon’s Prime Video was paying attention, and in April 2021, the show was extended for a second season—and a third!—after some effort from the fans, petitions, and hashtags!

Robert Kirkman, the show’s creator, had already made a hint that additional episodes were likely, but they would be challenging to bring off, even before this unexpected news.

The Walking Dead writer stated of the show’s development to Collider: “The production timeframe is quite intimidating. I believe that this season was developed and worked on for a lot of years. Things will get tighter as we, hopefully, get into season two and beyond.

To enter our second season, “there’s clearly a lot less designing and different things that have to happen. And it’s absolutely feasible that work on the second season has already begun. So, if this show proves to be a success, I believe we are in a good position to move forward.

Sorry guys, but if Robert Kirkman is still working on the script, it might be some time before we see any new pictures or a trailer.

Season two won’t likely have any new footage until later in 2022, but perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to ask Damien Darkblood to look into Amazon HQ in the meanwhile.

You at least have a tonne of comic books to read while you wait.

As soon as we learn of any progress, we’ll let you know!

Invincible Season 2 Cast

J.K. Simmons as Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man, Sandra Oh as Mark’s human mother Debbie, and Grayson/Invincible. By the end of the season, Debbie had realised that her husband had murdered the former Guardians of the Globe. Also expected to return are Andrew Rannells as Mark’s best buddy William Clockwell and Zazie Beetz as Mark’s on-again, off-again girlfriend Amber Bennett.

Even after their close call with Machine Head and company, the current Guardians of the Globe team, which consists of Jason Mantzoukas’ Rex Splode, Khary Payton’s Black Samson, Malese Jow’s Dupli-Kate, Grey Griffin’s Shrinking Rae and Amanda (Monster Girl’s human form), Ross Marquand’s Rudy (formerly Robot), and Gillian Jacobs’ Atom Eve, who left the Guardians to live in the wilderness.

And The Mauler Twins, voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, should also make a comeback for more sinister genetic modification, and Walton Goggins’ Cecil Stedman, leader of the Global Defense Agency, will undoubtedly return as he pursues Nolan. Allen, the Seth Rogen-voiced extraterrestrial who is a fan favourite, will undoubtedly make another appearance.

It’s still too early to reveal new cast members, but Kirkman’s devotion to his Walking Dead group is worth mentioning. Is there a chance that more of Yeun’s previous on-screen friends may work with him on his newest project?

“There isn’t a single actor on The Walking Dead with whom I wouldn’t want to reteam. An incredible cast of performers, “In 2021, Kirkman spoke to ComicBook.com. There isn’t really anyone I wouldn’t want to bring in: “Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.”

Invincible Season 2 Plot

Major animation and graphic novel spoilers ahead.

Fun but weird comic series. Invincible season 2 might go in numerous directions, but we have an idea. Based on the season 1 finale and Twitter indications.

Invincible Season 2 Plot
Invincible Season 2 Plot

First, the Invincible season 1 finale. After learning he couldn’t murder Mark and enslave humanity for the Viltrumite Empire, Omni-Man tears off into space towards an unknown destination.

Season 2 should continue this storyline. Mark must protect Earth from the Viltrumites and stop their universe-wide growth. Allen the Alien warned Mark that a fleet was coming, therefore we should expect their friendship to deepen in season 2.

Where’s Omni-Man/Nolan? In the comics, Nolan sails out to invade another planet to make up for deserting his Earth station. Mark and Nolan’s connection will be explored further in the TV series and comics. For now, we’ll just say we hope to see more of Simmons’ Nolan next season.

Season 2 should also go cosmic. Expect unusual realms, crazy characters, and a universe-spanning plot.

Season 1’s finale suggested future subplots. The Sequids plot wasn’t finished. After swapping places with an astronaut, a Martian entered Earth. The Sequids now control the astronaut left behind on Mars, which might be dangerous for Earth if they head for the blue planet.

Titan and Battle Beast’s storylines may be expanded. Last we saw them, they’d taken over Machine Head’s criminal enterprise and vanished away. Kirkman has hinted that fan favourite Battle Beast may receive more screen time in season 2. Despite Omni-destruction Man’s of their planet in episode 2, the Flaxans may return.

Unpublished plot pieces from Invincible’s comic run are interesting. Kirkman told Beyond the Trailer he wanted to integrate tales in the TV programme that didn’t fit in the graphic novels. Cecil Stedman banished Damien Darkblood to Hell in episode 4. Uncertain if this will be in season 2.

Kirkman has stated that season 2’s plot could include Mark’s biggest antagonist from the comics, Angstrom Levy.

Kirkman later confirmed Levy’s role in season 2.

Kirkman stated during the virtual Skybound Xpo Invincible panel: “Levy upends things. If you’ve read the comics and seen the TV show, you’ll know where we’re heading with the second season, especially if you consider how we adapted the plot in the first.”

Kirkman also teased some “wild stuff” for TV show fans, while Jason Mantzoukas said he can’t wait for season 2 to “bring more villains… like Thragg” and other interplanetary themes.

Invincible Season 2 Release Date

Amazon Prime Video hasn’t announced a release date for Invincible season 2. When the upcoming episodes will air is a closely guarded secret.

Robert Kirkman told Collider before the first season that season 2 shouldn’t take as lengthy. We worked on this season for years. We expect season 2 and beyond will tighten things up.

The critically renowned writer added, “There’s a lot less designing and other stuff to do for Season 2.” It’s probable that second-season work has begun.

Kirkman continued, “I think we’re in a good place moving forward if this show succeeds.” Invincible is currently in production, but it’s returning! Amazon has renewed the show for a third season, so that’s cool.
