Since the release of the first volume of Stranger Things season 4 two weeks ago, we’ve barely recovered from the shocking Vecna(opens in new tab) reveal that concluded the seven-episode run.
Sadly, we still have to wait a few more weeks for Season 4’s actual conclusion, during which time we’ll speculate endlessly about the fates of our favourite characters (including some fresh new faces), and if time permits, rewatch the entire series in search of Vecna Easter eggs.
With two feature-length episodes that are expected to contain the most epic scenes we’ve seen from Stranger Things thus far, Volume 2 of season 4’s true finale debuts in July. The Duffer Brothers and other cast and crew members have hinted at upcoming events as the release date approaches. Here is what we currently know.

Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 Cast
Currently, all the major players are expected to continue their efforts to defeat Vecna and permanently close the Upside Down.
Along with Millie Bobby Brown (who plays Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Noah Schnapp (Will), and Sadie Sink, this cast also features (Max).
Thankfully, their characters will have the assistance of Robin (Maya Hawke), Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton). Eddie and Argyle (Eduardo Franco) are recent recruits (Joseph Quinn).
With Murray’s assistance, Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Joyce (Winona Ryder), who are adults, are thankfully reunited (Brett Gelman). They just need to return safely to the United States.
However, there are also some terrible guys among all the heroes, and none are worse than Jamie Campbell Bower, alias 001, aka Vecna. The incredibly strong guard is actually very closely bound to Eleven, albeit with much more vicious inclinations. He now consumes individuals who have experienced trauma and guilt, breaking their bones each time.
Max is the only one who has so far managed to escape his grasp (thanks to Kate Bush, of course), but we’re interested to see how this plays out.
Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 Expected Plot
We previously covered the finale and the crew in Russia, so we’ll keep this brief. The final two episodes will likely focus on Nancy in Vecna’s lair.
The Hawkins group may save her, but Stranger Things will certainly kill off a significant player by the end. Eleven will undoubtedly go after Vecna once we learned they’re former friends-turned-enemies. Jonathan, Will, Mike, and Argyle? They’ll keep driving, yelling and weeping. Basically.
Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna, teased his upcoming role to The Hollywood Reporter. “You’ll see Vecna’s humanity,” he continued. “So much. There’s another gigantic, amazing, cool thing—I must keep my mouth shut! Vecna and Henry to Vecna still evolve quite a bit.”
Ouch! Put him on a Marvel press tour. The actor said he knows about Season 5, thus Vecna may survive Volume Two.
Stranger Things will conclude after Season 5; Volume Two will mark the conclusion. In our profile of Gaten Matarazzo, he shared how he felt about Stranger Things ending. “I’ll be heartbroken to leave the show, but I’m pleased it’s ending,” Matarazzo remarked.
“Each show requires it. I think many high-quality projects do well until they realise they had no stopping point. Car wasn’t braked. Without preparation, it will collapse. You never wrap things up at a high moment, thus they always go downhill. Matt and Ross Duffer were interested in that early on.”
Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 Release Date
Only one month after the first volume’s debut, on July 1 at midnight, Netflix will release the second instalment of season 4. The wait for volume 2 will be quite short compared to other shows on the streaming service that have seasons split into two parts, even though there will be a long wait following that massive end revelation.
It’s great that Stranger Things only has one month because viewers had to wait three months for parts 1 and 2 of the final season of Ozark.

How long will be Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2?
Two new episodes in Volume 2 will tie up the season 4 stories. The eighth episode, named “Papa,” will last roughly 1 hour, 25 minutes after the seventh full-length episode (1 hour, 39 minutes long).
The 2 hours, 19 minute long “The Piggyback” finale will be on par with episode 7 in terms of length and scope. Matt Duffer stated in an interview with TheWrap(opens in new tab), “Particularly seven and nine are motion pictures. Nine is also a lengthy film.”
