“The Challenge” (formerly known as “Real World/Road Rules Challenge”) has captivated audiences with rigorous physical competitions and interpersonal drama for an amazing 37 seasons starting in 1998.
According to GQ, the MTV programme has included all-stars from “The Challenge” and other reality television programmes including “Big Brother,” “Survivor,” and “Amazing Race” during the course of its 37 seasons.
According to E! Online, each season of the show features a distinctive theme that helps fans distinguish one season from the next, such as “Rivals” or “Battle of the Exes.”
Each television series is shot in an exotic locale, such as Iceland or Argentina. One of the most adored reality television programmes of all time, according to GQ, is made up of these intriguing locations, intense physical challenges—in one season, the contestants had to dive deep into the icy waters of Iceland to retrieve puzzle pieces with only a limited supply of oxygen—and endearing cast members.
“The Challenge” presenter TJ Lavin said to GQ earlier this year, “You push yourself past the limit and you just do it because you have to. “That was the course we were aiming to take. It’s fine and dandy to have a drama-heavy show. There is a time and place for that, but right now, competition programmes are the rage.”

What is The Challenge is all about?
The Challenge is a reality competition programme on MTV that was created from two of the network’s reality programmes, The Real World and Road Rules (formerly called as Road Rules: All Stars, then Real World/Road Rules Challenge).
Casting for The Challenge initially included former contestants from these two programmes, but it has since grown to include contestants who made their debut on The Challenge, former cast members from other MTV franchises like Are You the One?
Ex on the Beach (Brazil, UK, and US), Geordie Shore, and other non-MTV programmes. To avoid being eliminated, the candidates compete against one another in several harsh challenges. The final challenge winners take home the competition’s grand prize, which is often a sizeable sum of money. T. J. Lavin is the Challenge’s current host.
The show debuted on June 1st, 1998. Famous Real World alumni took part in a Road Rules-style road trip in the programme, which was originally titled Road Rules: All Stars. For the second season, it was renamed Real World/Road Rules Challenge, and by the show’s nineteenth season, it had been condensed to just “The Challenge.”
Since the fourth season, every season has given the programme a distinctive subtitle, like Rivals. The subtitle for each season is drawn from the format and theme of that season.
Spies, Lies & Allies was the name of the most recent season of the programme, which debuted on August 11, 2021, and ran through December 22, 2021.
Who we can expect to see in “The Challenge” Season 38
Although the roster of each season has varied, as was already noted, they often feature former contestants from earlier seasons of “The Challenge,” as well as cast members from reality series like “Big Brother,” “Amazing Race,” and “Love Island,” according to GQ.
In addition to Season 39, which has also been approved, TJ Lavin, a former professional BMX rider who has been hosting the programme for the previous 15 years, will return to anchor “The Challenge” in the future season (via Variety).
According to a recent Reddit thread, around 30 cast members from Internationals/CBS will be in Season 38, and the remaining eight contestants will be returning from MTV. The message also purportedly stated that rookie interviews for Season 38 had already begun.
Fans can now access a more complete list of the rumoured cast members for the eagerly anticipated upcoming season according to ScreenRant.

New theme and twists of The Challenge Season 38
The Challenge’s Season 38 casting announcements have just recently been made public by ScreenRant, but speculation continues to abound around the upcoming season’s potential twist. There will be non-tv cast members on “The Challenge” 38, claims GamerVev, who frequently tweets spoilers for “The Challenge” episodes.
This suggests that the spouses, partners, siblings, friends, and parents of “The Challenge” players may be joining them on the most recent season of the popular MTV programme, according to GamerVev’s ostensible inside information.
The news that “friends, family, and significant others” of the returning warriors will have a role in the upcoming season and that the theme for Season 38 will be “Ride or Dies” provided support for this notion.
These non-TV cast members are slated to include Chauncey Palmer (Amber B’s boyfriend), Jakk Maddox (Laurel’s friend from “Ex on the Peak”), Sam Bird (Kailah’s husband from “Love Island UK”), James Simon (Aneesa’s friend), Kenny Clark (Kaycee’s brother), and Tamara Alfaro (Turbo’s girlfriend), according to ScreenRant.
According to GamerVev, the upcoming season is supposedly being filmed in Argentina, though it is yet unknown which members of the cast are already there. Although this is encouraging for fans who were hoping for thrilling new information, MTV has not yet formally confirmed any of the rumours, for what it’s worth.

What else we know about “The Challenge” Season 38
Any “Challenge” fan is aware that just because a favourite cast member is scheduled to film doesn’t guarantee that they will participate. In case a cast member needs to leave for personal reasons, the programme makes sure to have backup performers available.
Before the cameras started shooting, Corey Lay, Josh Martinez, Emy Alupei, and Emannuel Neagu reportedly received the boot, according to Cheat Sheet. However, as Johnny Bananas famously observes, “All’s fair in love, war, and ‘The Challenge’.”
Alupei’s removal is thought to be connected to a prior controversy, but Martinez and Lay’s removal was probably the result of having too many cast members.
The rapper’s 2016 “The X-Factor” performance, in which she rapped the n-word repeatedly while performing a Nicki Minaj song, was captured on video. She was eliminated, along with her intended “Challenge” partner Neagu, as a result of the ensuing scandal.
On Instagram, the Romanian apologised for her performance “I sung every word to her song, including some that are quite obscene in western society, during the broadcast.
I sincerely apologise for the lyrics I used in the song. I now recognise the weight and impact of using this word, as well as how disrespectful my performance was to an entire culture.”
Of course, Challengers have before emerged unscathed from controversy. Alupei might get the chance to see “Uncle C.T.” again in the future.
