It’s possible that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will be released in the spring of 2023, but we haven’t heard anything about the game in quite some time, especially in terms of further gameplay video or any specific details.
However, it will need to be able to follow on from a video game that is largely regarded as being among the finest released in the ten years prior. And we hope that means taking what made Breath of the Wild amazing and expanding on it so that the formula continues to feel like it’s evolving.
In light of this, continue reading to learn what we currently know about the upcoming Breath of the Wild 2 game.

Breath Of The Wild 2 Storyline
We know a few things from the Breath of the Wild 2 teasers despite Nintendo‘s lack of context. First, it’s a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild featuring Link and Zelda. This is rare for Zelda games, which often recreate Link, Zelda, and Ganon. Zelda II and Majora’s Mask both accomplished that.
Link and Zelda will also discover a spirit force that can reanimate the dead. A calm image of Hyrule with an unsettling rumbling hints this spirit energy may poison the bright lands and turn them dark. Zelda games from A Link to the Past to Twilight Princess traverse light and dark worlds.
Link and Zelda start a new voyage following Breath of the Wild, as promised in the epilogue. A frightening discovery threatens Hyrule with evil. The only concern is whether Zelda will be an active player for most of the game, like in Wind Waker, or if she’ll need rescuing immediately, as in Breath of the Wild.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity can address questions concerning Breath of the Wild’s universe. The November release is a long, hefty hack-and-slash action game, not an open-world adventure. It’s not Breath of the Wild 2, but you can revisit the world.
Expect information on Breath of the Wild 2 before the end of the year. It’s Zelda’s 35th anniversary, so Nintendo should keep us updated on our favourite Hylian warrior.
Breath Of The Wild 2 Platform?
The second instalment of the Breath of the Wild series will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. We do not anticipate that Nintendo will begin porting its successful first-party games to other systems when Breath of the Wild 2 is eventually made available to the public because the company is not interested in doing so.
And in spite of the release of the OLED variant of the Switch, speculations continue to circulate regarding the possibility of a Switch Pro Console. It would be fascinating to watch if the premiere of Breath of the Wild 2 coincides with the launch of a “next-gen” Switch. As a result of Hyrule Warriors testing the capabilities of the system to its absolute maximum, there is little question that Breath of the Wild 2 may profit from an update in its hardware.
Will Breath Of The Wild 2 Multiplayer?
It has been speculated that the game will include cooperative play; however, this speculation originated from the fact that the unveiling trailer showed Link and Zelda adventuring together. Although nothing has been confirmed as of yet, the addition of co-op play would be a significant departure from the original Breath of the Wild experience.
Breath Of The Wild 2 Available For Pre-Orders
You read that correctly: Breath of the Wild 2, a game for which we don’t even have an official title yet, is now available for pre-order on Amazon U.S. (opens in new tab) and Best Buy (opens in new window) (opens in new tab). Both retailers have just provided placeholder artwork and release dates at this time; however, you are free to lock in your $60 and reserve a copy of the game in advance if you so like.
Breath Of The Wild 2 Release Date
In the spring of 2023, Breath of the Wild 2 is scheduled to debut. Nintendo’s E3 2021 presentation stated that Breath of the Wild 2 would launch in 2022, however in March 2022, series producer Eiji Aonuma revealed that the game will instead launch in 2023. For those of you who had been anticipating a release this year, we apologise, he said in his response.
The adventure in this follow-up will not only take place on the ground, as in the first game, but also in the skies above, as was previously announced. But the extended environment goes beyond that, and you’ll be able to take advantage of an even wider range of features, such as fresh encounters and gameplay components. Please be patient a little longer as the entire development team is still hard at work making this game’s experience something spectacular.
Trailer for Breath Of The Wild 2
At this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the first trailer for Breath of the Wild 2 was shown. You may also view a brand new trailer that is out now and is significantly more detailed.
This one covers some of the same ground as the last one, but it also demonstrates some of the more intricate gameplay aspects, such as a new traversal mechanism that will allow Link to go to areas that are in the air.
