The seventh season of Outlander is almost about to premiere, but unlike our beloved Claire, we can’t merely skip ahead in time to see how the new episodes turn out.
The sixth season of the time-traveling historical drama was released on Starz and Starzplay in March of 2022. The season continued the adventures of the Fraser family and their extended family as they attempted to live a lovely, tranquil existence in the 18th century in North Carolina.
Unhappily, they never experience a calm moment in their lives, and the fact that the Revolutionary War is on the horizon does not help matters.
At the conclusion of the sixth season, Claire found herself in a perilous situation because the other members of her family, including Jamie, Young Ian, Bree, Roger, Fergus, and Marsali, were dispersed over the kingdom.
So, what can we expect from the upcoming seventh season of Outlander? Everything that you need to know is included below.
Outlander Season 7 Storyline
Season 6 ended with cliffhangers that will be resolved in season 7. Claire is imprisoned in Wilmington and could be tried for murdering Malva Christie; if convicted, she would be executed.
Jamie, newly rescued from Richard Brown’s Committee of Safety, is en route to rescue her, likely preparing another prison break. He rescued her from Fort William in season one, and she rescued him from Wentworth and the Bastille in season two.
The seventh season must establish who killed Malva and what Wendigo Donner’s return means for the Frasers. Fraser family faces additional risk. Season six’s finale hinted at mounting unrest as Claire landed in Wilmington, and season seven would depict the Revolutionary War hanging above Fraser’s Ridge.
An Echo in the Bone takes place between 1776 and 1778. The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776, and the conflict lasted until 1783. Fans of the books know that the Fraser family is drawn into the battle and that Jamie fights against his buddy Lord John and Lord John’s’son’ (Jamie’s biological son) William.
Brianna announced she was pregnant with her second child in season six, which could cause her and Roger to make important decisions about where (and when) to raise their kid.

Outlander Season 7 All Episodes
Outlander season six was shortened from 12 to 8 episodes because to pandemic production concerns, making it the show’s shortest season to yet.
The bad news is that. The good news is that those four episodes have been carried over to season seven, which will include a whopping 16(!) episodes, as was already revealed.
In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, Caitriona Balfe said, “What we did was we took the four episodes that we would have recorded [for season six] and we are now having them at the beginning of season seven, so season seven is going to be a 16 episode season.”
“I believe that by doing it that way, we can continue to do Outlander in the same manner we always have, by taking our time and letting the story develop.”

Outlander Season 7 Release Date
Even while it is still too early to tell when we might see Season 7, the fact that filming began before Season 6 finished broadcasting is a promising hint that this Droughtlander won’t be as long as the previous one was. However, it is quite likely that the seventh season won’t premiere until 2023.
The Future Of The Show: Will There Be Outlander Season 8?
When Starz renewed the series for Season 7, it sounded like they were in it till they ran out of Gabaldon books.
“Starz is committed to investing in unapologetic, bold premium storytelling that amplifies diverse voices,” said Christina Davis, President of Original Programming for Starz. Outlander has a strong female protagonist and a great team of storytellers, which represent our initiative. Next season will see Claire and Jamie in America during the Revolution and more time travel.
Also, executive producer Maril Davis claimed, “We’ll make this until Claire and Jamie are 100.” We promise. Many books remain. We’ll continue if Starz, Sony, and the stars are agreeable.
In January 2021, Balfe stated she would end Season 7 instead. “We’ll have been together almost 10 years by then,” she said. “But we don’t know.” Those decisions are over my head.”
