Comcast Now: Wi-Fi 6 Router For Its High Speed Customers

Comcast Now

The new xFi Advanced Gateway is one of Comcast’s modem/router combination solutions that can be leased alongside Xfinity Internet, and it was revealed at CES today. Wi-Fi 6 is supported by this updated version, which is designed to provide quicker transfer rates and better manage the increasing number of connected devices in our homes.

In addition to Wi-Fi 6, the new Comcast router has one 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port, three 1 Gbps Ethernet ports (up from two in the previous model), Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) and Zigbee radios for connecting to Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Additionally, it is now available in a clean and modern white colour, in addition to the standard black. Comcast also promises that its xFi Pods, which can be used to set up a mesh Wi-Fi network in your home, will continue to function with the new Advanced Gateway.

According to The Verge, Comcast said the gateway rollout will begin in the new year.

However, the new gateway is only accessible to those who subscribe to a Comcast plan with monthly rates of 300 Mbps or greater. If you have one of these plans, though, Comcast’s vice president of xFi and digital security, Dave Puckett, told The Verge that leasing the new gateway will be the same price as it is now.

Customers who lease an xFi gateway from Comcast will have access to xFi Advanced Cybersecurity, which provides additional network security measures, at no additional cost. Comcast has announced that new Xfinity subscribers will automatically get access to the free service over the next few weeks. Once the service has been made available to you, you may control it using the xFi mobile app.

At CES last year, Comcast revealed that consumers could pay an additional $5.99 per month for XFi Advanced Cybersecurity on top of the internet service and router rental fees they were already paying. Puckett has assured you that you would no longer be required to make such payments. But xFi Advanced Cybersecurity is only available to Comcast internet users who also lease a Comcast gateway; if you use your own modem or router, you won’t be able to obtain it at all despite being a Comcast internet subscriber.
