Kirk Edward Herbstreit is an American football commentator who works for the television programme College GameDay, which is broadcast on ESPN and ABC. He also provides colour commentary for college football games broadcast on ESPN and ABC, as well as for Thursday Night Football games broadcast on Prime Video.

Kirk Herbstreit was born Kirk Edward Herbstreit on August 19, 1969, in Centerville, Ohio. He went to Centerville High School, where he was the quarterback of the football team. During his senior year, he was recognised as the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year.
He went on to play college football. Baseball and basketball were two more sports that Kirk played. Jim, the man who he was named after, worked as an assistant coach at Ohio State University.
