Wheel of Fortune to Feature St. Cloud State Professor

At 6:30 on WCCO, the Twin Cities CBS affiliate, Tim Johnson will be a contestant on Wheel of Fortune. Johnson attended the institution twice and earned degrees in both mass communications. He previously worked here and at sister station KCLD as an on-air personality and as a news director.

Johnson is a veteran of the United States Air Force and a resident of Sauk Rapids. He claims that he and his grandmother began watching Wheel of Fortune before he learned to read.

One of the most successful American game shows ever, Wheel of Fortune has been on the air nonstop since 1975. Hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White have been with the show since its inception in 1983. It’s similar to the game Hangman in that it involves deciphering a series of word puzzles one letter at a time.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, open auditions have been conducted online. When hiring new employees, the team previously used a mobile office called the “Wheelmobile” to visit potential candidates in their homes over the course of two days. Producing the show takes place in the Golden State.
