Currently shooting 54.2% from the field, the eight-time NBA All-Star is averaging 24.2 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game. The team, meanwhile, has gotten off to a terrible start.

Davis has been with the team for four years, and despite their success (an NBA title in 2020) the team has been on a downward trajectory for the past two seasons. The Pistons, meanwhile, are on a five-game losing streak and have a 3-13 record through their first 16 games.

The Lakers legend reportedly can’t wait to get back into the lineup. LeBron James’s return to the Lakers is also eagerly anticipated by the team’s devoted fan base. Since he sprained his ankle in the team’s 99-94 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on March 20, King James has been sidelined.

Before his injury, James was a leading contender for NBA Most Valuable Player honors. Having already won a championship this season, the Lakers are looking to repeat their success. The Lakers’ path to the postseason will be more difficult now that Davis and James won’t be able to play.

The Lakers had hoped to gain some momentum this season despite LeBron’s continued play despite abdominal issues. The team, however, has taken a major hit due to Davis’s injury.

At 23.3 points per game, Anthony has been the Lakers’ leading scorer this year. He also averages 9.9 boards, 2.0 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game, which all rank first on the team.

James and Westbrook will need to step up in Davis’ absence if the Thunder are going to have any chance of winning the Western Conference this year.

Final Words

Davis, 29, scoffed when asked if he would be able to reevaluate his training methods during the long offseason in the hopes of avoiding injury in the future. Davis emphatically responded with a negative.

“If we’re being totally honest, my methods of training were among the best. I have no control over whether or not I step on someone’s foot, or whether or not they fall into my leg. Not like I was out of shape and did something stupid or out of my control.
