iOS 16.2 Released

In recent years, Apple’s major annual iOS release has frequently delivered some of its best improvements in the point releases that follow the big September release. In iOS 16.1, for example, we got Live Activities, Matter support, a new battery percentage indicator, and iCloud Shared Photo Library, all of which show that this is indeed the case with iOS 16.

The impact of Apple’s release of iOS 16.2 could be even greater. It enhances the always-on display on the iPhone 14 Pro, updates the Home architecture, and more. It also allows you to enable full end-to-end encryption for more of your iCloud data, adds a new karaoke feature to Apple Music, and more.

The latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 16.2, was released on December 13th, 2018. Apple Music Sing, Advanced Data Protection, the Freeform app, and Lock Screen enhancements are some of the most notable new additions. To obtain it, select “Settings > General > Software Update” in the main menu.

Apple is planning to release iOS 16.2 soon. Also, the revised version should reach customers around the middle of December 2022. Apple has not settled on a date for the public release of iOS 16.2. We will let you know when we have more concrete information about the release date.

We eagerly await the release of Apple’s newest operating system update, iOS 16.2. In the months following the release of iOS 16.2, it is expected that Apple will introduce iOS 16.3, with a release date of February 2023.

After iOS 16.2 is released, you’ll be able to see all of the new features for yourself, but we can reveal a select few now. As of iOS 16.2, the lock screen can now display a “sleep” widget for iPhone users.

What’s New In iOS 16.2

The “everyone” setting for AirDrop permissions has a 10-minute time limit as of iOS 16.2. This modification was initiated in China and is gradually expanding to other countries.

In iOS 16.2 beta 4, Apple altered the way Notification Center displays notifications, making older notifications visible by default. The previous practice of having to swipe up in order to view older notifications has been abandoned.

Two new switches can be found in Settings > Display & Brightness > Always On Display on iPhone 14 Pro models to control the always-on display. The first one lets you turn off the wallpaper whenever the always-on display is on, and the second one turns off the alerts.

Widgets for tracking sleep data and medications were added to the lock screen in the second beta release of the Health app.

The new digital whiteboarding app Freeform was introduced at WWDC this fall and is now available in the beta versions of iOS 16, iPad 16, and macOS 13. You can share sketches, notes, files, web links, documents, photos, videos, and audio with your friends, family, and coworkers on a digital whiteboard using the Freeform app, which is available for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Using Stage Manager, iPad owners can connect their devices to an external display supporting resolutions as high as 6K.

Launch the Settings app and then go to General > Software Update to download and install the most recent iOS version. A new version indicator and a button to download and update will be there if one is available. Select that, and then do as instructed.

Keep waiting if you haven’t seen iOS 16.2 yet, even though it was just released. It may take up to two hours for the release to become available on every CDN around the world.

After a day, if you still haven’t seen the update, you could try restarting your iPhone. Press and hold the volume down button until the power off bar appears (and several emergency options). It can be turned back on after being turned off by swiping the power switch, waiting 20 seconds, and then pressing and holding the side button for a few seconds.
