California man convicted of killing girlfriend, 2 babies

On Wednesday, a Southern California jury found a man guilty of stabbing to death his girlfriend and killing her two infant sons, whose bodies were never located.

The 42-year-old Orange resident Shazer Fernando Limas was found guilty of first-degree murder three times, each time for a separate but related set of murders. When he is finally sentenced in February, he may be facing a life sentence without the chance of parole.

The Orange County district attorney’s office released a statement saying that on April 2, 2012, Limas stabbed Arlet Hernandez Contreras, 31, 48 times in his home after an argument between the two occurred a day or two earlier.

Afterward, he allegedly murdered her two young sons, Fernando Hernandez Limas, 16 months old, and Emanuel Hernandez Limas, 2 months old, according to the prosecution.

Limas, who had another girlfriend, “let the bodies of Conteras and boys rot in a balcony closet for 10 days while he continued to go dancing clubs, rent limos, and even have friends over to his apartment,” according to the district attorney’s office.

Prosecutors allege that after Limas removed blood stains from his carpet, he placed Contreras’ body in a large chest and drove it in a rented U-Haul to an industrial area in neighboring Los Angeles County, where it was found dumped in a gutter.
