After Ms. Pete, 27, got out of Peterson’s SUV and started walking away from it, she claims that Peterson shot at the back of her feet and told her to “dance b****” in a Los Angeles courtroom. She claims Peterson, who was on probation at the time, offered her $1 million to keep quiet about the incident and that she had surgery to remove bullet fragments from her feet.

Peterson’s attorney claimed that Ms. Pete’s ex-best friend, Kelsey Harris, fired the shots during a jealous argument between the two women over Peterson and that Peterson had tried to stop the shooting.”Megan Pete is a cheat. According to George Mgdesyan, her attorney, she has lied about absolutely everything concerning this case. “She lied on the stand in this case.”

An onslaught of cultural issues and arguments, including Black victims’ reluctance to speak to police, the protection of Black women, gender politics in hip-hop, and online toxicity, reached a fever pitch during the trial.

Prosecutors stressed the bravery of Megan’s testimony and the animosity she received for it in their closing arguments. They claimed she had nothing to gain by lying.

Gascon said in a statement that the witness “showed incredible courage and vulnerability with your testimony despite repeated and grotesque attacks that you did not deserve.” You were subjected to scrutiny that no woman should ever have to endure.

In his closing arguments, Lanez’s attorney suggested that Megan’s former best friend Kelsey Harris, who had intervened to try to prevent the shooting, was the true shooter. Attorney George Mgdesyan contended Megan fabricated a sympathetic story by blaming Lanez for the shooting.

“Megan Pete is a cheat. Mgdesyan claimed that she had lied about everything from the start of the case. “She lied on the stand in this case.”

Previously, Harris had named Lanez as the shooter and denied that he was the one who pulled the trigger. Her lawyer explicitly said in an email that he could not comment on her case.
