Many Chicago families should get payment for up to $400 during the holidays

In the near future, applications will be open for a county programme that provides monthly cash assistance of $400 for two years.

An announcement states that applications for the Cook County Promise Guaranteed Income Pilot will be accepted from October 6-21. Residents of Cook County who are potentially qualified can get information on how to apply and how to sign up for updates via a web portal.

According to the county, 3,250 locals will receive monthly payments of $500 from the programme for a period of two years. In December, you can anticipate receiving your first payment.

The American Rescue Plan Act, a measure of the Biden administration to provide direct aid to citizens who suffered setbacks during the pandemic, provides the funding for the $42 million investment.

The applicants must be at least 18 years old and reside in Cook County with a household income of less than 250 per cent of the federal poverty level. It has been announced by the county that participants will be chosen via a random lottery.

According to the county, applicants do not need to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency in order to participate in the pilot programme.
