Chicago police officer injured while responding to shooting on South Side

During Thursday’s response to a shooting on the South Side of Chicago, a police officer was shot and taken to the hospital. They haven’t found the shooter yet, and they’re looking for anyone who might have been with them.

The incident, according to Chicago police, occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 8700 block of South State Street. According to the police, at that time a group of people approached a man in his twenties and shot him in the arm.

His condition was deemed to be stable enough for transport to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

CPD reported that one of their officers sustained a minor leg injury during the incident response after getting into a scuffle with a person at the scene. The officer’s attacker has been taken into custody, and formal charges are being prepared.

After police arrived to investigate, they were confronted by a local resident. This led to a physical altercation. Authorities say one officer was hurt and taken to a local hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries.”The police say the suspect is in custody and that charges will be filed soon.

Authorities reported that an officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and that the suspect in the ensuing fight had been apprehended and was facing charges.
