1 shot to death, another injured after double shooting in southeast Atlanta

According to reports, the two sites of the incident were separated by only a few blocks on the same street.

When police arrived, they discovered a body on Kipling Street SE, and it appeared to have been shot to death. Police were also alerted to a shooting on McDonough Boulevard SE.

The Kipling Drive victim was shot in front of a residence and pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Elizabeth Rawlins, a reporter for Channel 2, was on the scene on Kipling Street and saw bullet holes in a car and numerous shell casings on the ground.

For several hours on Friday, worried and shocked residents of the area gathered in the streets to watch the unfolding violence. Although no one was willing to go on camera, one eyewitness claimed they knew the victim and that he or she lived on the same street as the murderer.

The gunfire left a dramatic wake of evidence, including spent shell casings strewn across the road and multiple bullet holes in a nearby car. According to their research, the shooting was the result of a growing conflict between two groups of people.

One person has been hospitalized, police reported. “We are working to get an interview with him as soon as he is able to understand what exactly occurred and what led to the shooting incident that we have now,” the source said.
