On Wednesday, one of the suspects in an attempted carjacking was shot and killed. At about 5:45 p.m., two people, a man, and a woman approached a woman who was sitting in an Infiniti FX35 in the 100 block of E. Lake Street and got into the car.
Police in Chicago says the victim and the perpetrators got into a fight after they broke into her apartment.
The car moved forward until it crashed into a support column. The force of the collision encased the trio inside. Everyone was safely extracted from the Infiniti by the Chicago Fire Department.
Officials say the male suspect was pronounced dead at one of the local hospitals where all three were taken. The current status of both women is unknown, but police have said that the female perpetrator has been apprehended and charges are pending.

In the aftermath of an attempted carjacking in Chicago’s Loop, an 18-year-old man was killed and two other people, including the victim, were critically injured in a crash.
Chicago fire officials confirmed that the dead teenager was one of two men who attempted to carjack a woman at around 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of Lake Street and Wabash Avenue.
According to reports from the police, a fight broke out after two strangers forced their way into a car in which a woman was a passenger.
Officials claim the car was moving forward while the struggle for control was still ongoing when it slammed into a support column at high speed, effectively trapping all three occupants inside.
All three victims were freed from the wreckage by responding firefighters and taken to area hospitals.

One of the suspects in a downtown Chicago carjacking attempt was killed in a crash, and the other suspect and the victim were injured.
WBBM-TV reports that the Chicago Police Department is saying that at 5:42 p.m., a man and a woman approached the victim as he sat in an Infiniti FX35 and forced their way in.
Despite the victim’s best efforts to stop the car, the alleged carjackers reportedly managed to keep it moving forward while they struggled with the victim, as reported by the television station. WBBM said the car collided with a support column beneath the Loop “L” tracks.
According to WMAQ reporting, TV’s force of the collision sealed all three occupants inside the Infiniti.WLS-TV reports that one of the alleged carjackers, an 18-year-old man, has passed away at a local hospital.
According to WMAQ, a 17-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital in critical condition after being the second suspected carjacker. The woman, 35 years old, was transported to another hospital and was also in critical condition, the TV station reported.
Three People Were Injured And Rushed To Nearby Hospitals
The police say the male suspect who was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital has since died there. Based on what we learned from the Fire Department, he was 18 years old.
According to police, a female suspect, aged 17, was taken to the same hospital in critical condition. She, too, was taken into custody, and charges are pending against her. The victim, a 35-year-old man, was reportedly taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in critical condition.
At 10 o’clock that night, the car was still there. There were personal items from the victim lying around on the ground and on the roof of the vehicle.
