CHICAGO (WLS) — Officials say a firefighter was hurt Thursday evening as a massive blaze destroyed homes in an unincorporated Maine Township. The fire started in the 9400 block of Margail Avenue, which is between Des Plaines and Park Ridge in the western Chicago suburbs.
ABC7 obtained exclusive footage from the doorbell camera showing the moments before the fire engulfed the townhouse, including what appears to be a sudden explosion.
Neighbor Nica Simmons said, “We just ran out to really check on our neighbors and just make sure they were OK.”Officials reported that the fire began in one apartment at around 4 p.m. and quickly spread to two more units. We had a roof collapse.
