Two NYC teens arrested in beating of 16-year-old boy over Air Jordans

New York City’s Hamilton Heights neighborhood — On Wednesday, police said they had arrested two people in connection with a beating and subsequent theft of Jordan sneakers from a 16-year-old boy on a street in Hamilton Heights.

Dijon Sellers, 18, and a 14-year-old boy, whose name was not released by authorities due to his age, have been charged with robbery and gang assault in connection with the attack on January 7.

It was previously reported that they were part of a larger group that jumped the victim outside of a McDonald’s on the corner of West 145th Street and Broadway at around 9:15 p.m., repeatedly punching and kicking him.

If the authorities are to be believed, the suspects waited until the victim was unconscious before making off with his Jordans and running for it.

The victim was taken to a local hospital by emergency crews, where his condition was reported to be stable.

The police have released surveillance images of several people they believe may have been involved in the incident, but they have not made any additional arrests that have been made public.
