Authorities in north Minneapolis were able to positively identify the teen who was shot and killed last week on Thursday.
On Friday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the dead teen as Dwayne Scott Dzubay-Percy, 15, who was found near the intersection of North 40th Avenue and Dupont Avenue North. A gunshot wound to the chest proved fatal, and his death was officially classified as a homicide.
Chief of Police Brian O’Hara stated that Dzubay-Percy was located by police after calls were made reporting a car crash and gunfire at about 6:30 p.m. The medical examiner ruled Dzubay-Percy dead at the scene.
According to O’Hara, Dzubay-body Percy was discovered in the driver’s seat of a stolen Kia earlier that day, and authorities believe the shooting death is related to the crash itself.

The shooting occurred on the 1600 block of Plymouth Avenue North at 8:15 p.m., according to the Minneapolis Police Department. Officer Garrett Parten, the spokesman for the MPD, said that the department responded to the scene after receiving multiple reports of gunfire and a ShotSpotter activation.

Police found “multiple casings on the ground,” according to Parten, but it was unclear how many shots had been fired at first.
“A young man, only 16 years old, has been shot in the street on this crisp autumn evening. Parten said, “This is a tragic loss of a 16-year-old young man. This level of violence is not only concerning, but it’s also angering.”
