gina krasley cause of death

TLC’s “My 600-lb Life” follows people who are morbidly obese and have made the decision to change their lives by reaching out for help. Tragically, such extreme obesity can have a devastating effect on human health, and some former participants have since passed away; one of them, Gina Krasley, passed away on August 1 at the age of 30.

During Season 8, Krasley shared her story on the show and began her journey to a healthier weight. She disclosed that she had been “pushed under the rug” for the duration of her life due to her mental health issues, fear of abandonment, and other factors.

She had already lost a considerable amount of weight by the end of the episode, and she lost another 300 pounds before her untimely death, all of which she recorded on YouTube. Her death occurred “at home surrounded by her loving family,” as stated in her obituary.

There is a lack of details about the circumstances surrounding her untimely demise. However, there are hints. When Krasley’s health took a sudden turn for the worse, she used her personal YouTube channel to keep her fans and distant family members informed. These videos provide some context for how she spent her last days.

Who Was Krasley?

The first time viewers of My 600-Pound Life saw Krasley, she weighed 606.7 pounds and she was 28 years old. She had a large family in New Jersey, including her mother, sister, dog, and sister’s fiancé. Krasley admitted on the show that she felt bad about the toll her obesity was taking on her marriage and Beth.

Who Was Krasley

Krasley and her sister had a difficult upbringing due to their parent’s divorce and their father’s continued abuse of them. Krasley began using food as a way to deal with the stress and trauma she was experiencing as a result of the abuse. She explained that food was what helped her forget about the discomfort. Just trying to eat as much as possible, whenever I could.

The reality star admitted that she weighed 450 pounds when she graduated from high school and 500 pounds by the time she was 19. Krasley had a hard time losing the required 50 pounds before her surgery on the show.

Before he will perform weight loss surgery, Dr. Now makes his patients take the initiative to begin losing weight on their own. He gave Krasley multiple opportunities to reduce her weight on her own, and he even gave his consent for surgery before rescinding it when he found out she had gained 13 pounds.

She explains how she developed an infection that put her in the hospital and prevented her from eating or drinking, in a video she calls “Hospital Bound.” Cellulitis was identified as the offending infection; this is a bacterial infection that targets adipose (fat) cells and the skin.

Multiple videos posted by the “My 600-lb Life” star in her final months show her complaining of nerve pain and pleading with a neurologist to diagnose her with peripheral neuropathy.

In her videos, Krasley makes it clear that she is experiencing the effects of the disease, which is brought on by damage to the nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord, first in her hands and feet.

Three weeks before she passed away, Krasley ceased posting videos to YouTube. Her July 29th neurologist appointment was mentioned in one of her final status updates. Since I am writing this, that was about a week ago. Her family, friends, and fans who she inspired along the way will miss her dearly even though the circumstances of her death remain unknown.
