jeffrey dahmer

Late last month, Netflix released a limited series about serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, and the show’s chilling subject matter has generated waves of discussion and speculation ever since.

Ryan Murphy, the creator of American Horror Story, collaborated with frequent collaborator Ian Brennan to create Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Indeed, Murphy serves as an executive producer as well.

Evan Peters, a former student at AHS, plays the serial killer, and Richard Jenkins portrays Jeffrey’s father, Lionel. Shari, his stepmother, is portrayed by Molly Ringwald. Also starring is Niecy Nash as Glenda Cleveland, Jeffrey’s next-door neighbor who reported Dahmer to the authorities multiple times but got nowhere.

There is no denying that this is a sad tale. Murder, cannibalism, necrophilia, and many other gruesome acts are included. There are many unanswered questions about Jeffrey’s current whereabouts after the premiere of the new series about his life and victims.

Now you can learn everything there is to know about one of the most notorious serial killers in U.S. history.

Who Is Jeffrey Dahmer?

Originally from the United States, Jeffrey became a notorious serial killer. On May 21, 1960, to parents Lionel and Joyce Dahmer, he was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Who is Jeffrey Dahmer

After a hernia operation as a child, Jeffrey became more reserved than he had been before, according to his father. He withdrew emotionally, tightened up, and isolated himself. According to the New York Times, he participated in high school activities like the band and intramural tennis.

The paper reported that after Jeffrey spent a semester at Ohio State University, he enlisted in the army and was later honorably discharged.

Around the age of 14, Jeffrey says he started fantasizing about necrophilia and murder.

What Happened When Jeffrey Was In Charge?

The first murder was committed by Jeffrey in 1978. Fresh out of high school, Jeffrey picked up Steven Hicks and drove him back to Ohio to live with his parents.

After Hicks had some drinks and some sex with Jeffrey, he tried to leave, but Jeffrey smacked him upside the head and strangled him with a barbell.

What Happened When Jeffrey Was In Charge

That was always something I felt was wrong. Dahmer admitted to Inside Edition in 1993 that the initial murder was impulsive. In 1978, as I was returning from the mall, I overheard the following: I’d daydream about picking up a hitchhiker, bringing him home, and exercising total dominance and control over him.

Between 1978 and 1991, he killed 16 more people; even more disturbing (if that’s possible) is that he apparently had sex with some of the bodies, kept some body parts, and ate others.

He Was Accused Of What, Exactly?

By the time of his 1992 trial in Milwaukee, Jeffrey had been charged with 15 counts of first-degree murder. Biography.com reports that his initial plea was not guilty, but that he later changed it to a plea of guilty by reason of insanity.

In Ohio, in May of that year, a jury of his peers found Jeffrey guilty on all counts after deliberating for 10 hours. He was subsequently sentenced to 15 consecutive life terms and a 16th life term.

How Did Jeffrey Dahmer Die?

On November 28, 1994, Jeffrey Dahmer was killed in his cell at Columbia Correctional Institution.

Fearing retaliation from inmates who knew of his heinous crimes, he had spent his first year behind bars in solitary confinement.

How Did Jeffrey Dahmer Die

Eventually, Dahmer asked to be transferred out of solitary confinement and into the general population, claiming that the isolation was too limiting and that he required more intellectual stimulation.

Every day, for two hours, he was tasked with cleaning the restroom facility.

Dahmer requested a Bible while awaiting his court date, and after reading it he became obsessed with Christianity. He became a devout follower of Christianity and was baptized in May of that year.

Two months after his baptism, an inmate slashed at his throat with a toothbrush that had a razor embedded in it. This was one of several attempts in his life.

His parents and other people who knew him well have said that Dahmer was prepared to die as punishment for what had happened.

Where Is Jeffrey Dahmer’s Family Now?

Dahmer’s birth mother, Joyce Flint, maintained contact with him while he was incarcerated. According to the Journal Sentinel, Joyce regularly checked in with her son via phone calls.

According to the information provided, Flint made a suicide attempt on Dahmer’s actual birthday in 1996. According to Desert News, Flint established an HIV community center called “The Living Room” in Fresno that very same year. Before her death, she was a dedicated employee at the Central Valley AIDS Center. Breast cancer was the cause of her death in the year 2000, as reported by Today.

Lionel Dahmer, Jeffrey’s father, published a memoir titled A Father’s Story in 1994, a few months before Jeffrey’s death.

The book “describes his shock at hearing the news of his son’s crimes, his entry into a world of complete denial, and how, during Jeffrey’s trial, he placed himself in his son’s shoes,” as stated on the website for the book.

The Cinemaholic reports that Lionel and Shari Dahmer are still married and living in Ohio. She has aged well into her eighties.

Conclusion

Jeffrey Dahmer, a serial killer who committed 17 murders between 1978 and 1991, only let one of his victims, Tracy Edwards, getaway. The Jeffrey Dahmer case has been brought back into the spotlight thanks to the arrival of the Netflix true crime drama Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story last month.
