Chicago Workers and Immigrants To Get Financial Assistance

The region of Chicago in the United States is working on a new financial assistance programme that will provide immigrants and domestic workers with a one-time payment of $500.00 USD. According to the information provided by the Mayor of the so-called Windy City, Lori Lightfoot, the assistance is the second component of the strategy for the Chicago Resiliency Fund.

More than 15000 people to get benefits

It is anticipated that 7,000 women who work in the domestic sector and 10,000 undocumented immigrants will be able to collect the contribution. Also included in this estimate is the number of men who work in the domestic area. People who were not eligible to receive a stimulus check from the government during the time of the Coronavirus outbreak will be the recipients of these funds.

The mayor gave public recognition to the efforts that the workers made on a daily basis to carry on with their lives in their homes while the construction was going on. Ms. Lightfoot has committed to using resources within the budget to help those individuals who are most in need.

Eligibility Criteria to get Financial Assistance

Residents of Chicago must be at least 18 years old and have a Chicago address in order to be eligible for financial aid payments. Another one of the requirements is that the family’s earnings can’t be more than 300 percent of the poverty threshold set by the federal government.
