Vince Gilligan is the creator and producer of the American criminal drama television series Breaking Bad. The series, which is set and shot in Albuquerque, New Mexico, centres on Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a dejected high school chemistry teacher who is underpaid, overqualified, and suffering from stage-three lung cancer. Breaking Bad Storyline

Vince Gilligan stated in July 2011 that he planned to finish Breaking Bad at the conclusion of its fifth season. Early in August 2011, talks between the network AMC and the show’s production company, Sony Pictures Television, about an agreement for the fifth and conceivably final season started. To save money, AMC suggested cutting the fifth season’s 13 episodes down to six to eight, but the creators rejected the idea.
In case an agreement could not be reached, Sony subsequently approached other cable networks about possibly picking up the programme. AMC renewed the show for a fifth and final season with 16 episodes on August 14, 2011. The first eight episodes of the fifth season will air in 2012, while the final eight will premiere in 2013, according to a statement made by Bryan Cranston in April 2012.
