Shakespeare was born in a wealthy family
Shakespeare was the son of Mary Arden, a wealthy landowner family, and John Shakespeare, an alderman and successful glover (glove-maker) from Snitterfield in Warwickshire. He was baptised on April 26, 1564, in Stratford-upon-Avon, where he was born.
His exact birthday is unclear, although Saint George’s Day, on April 23, is traditionally celebrated on that day. Shakespeare passed away on this day in 1616, thus biographers have found appeal in this date, which can be linked to William Oldys and George Steevens. He was the last surviving son and the third of eight children.

Shakespeare’s married life

400 years ago, on April 23, 1616, in the little Warwickshire town where he was born, William Shakespeare passed away.
