After hosting a number of regional talk shows, such as Regis Philbin’s Saturday Night in St. Louis and A.M. Los Angeles, he relocated to New York in 1983 to anchor The Morning Show, which was rebranded as Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee three years later. In 2001 and 2011, Philbin was awarded the Daytime Emmy for outstanding talk show host for his work on the show Live!

He also won the award for outstanding game show host for his work on the show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? In addition, he was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the year 2003 and the Daytime Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement in the year 2008.

According to Regis Philbin’s former co-host Kathie Lee Gifford, he was suffering from a form of “depression” in the weeks leading up to his death in January of this year because the coronavirus pandemic prevented him from doing the things that he loved the most. Regis Philbin passed away in January of this year.
