David Jason Muir, a journalist with the ABC broadcast-television network in New York City, was born on November 8, 1973. He is the host of ABC World News Tonight and co-anchor of ABC News magazine 20/20.

Muir was raised by his mother Pat Mills and father Ronald Muir in a Catholic household while growing up in Onondaga Hills. In addition to two younger stepsiblings, he has a younger sister named Rebecca Muir. Muir earned a journalism degree from Syracuse University in 1995.
David Muir started his career as a broadcaster
After graduating from college, he immediately started a professional broadcasting career. Throughout the next five years, he worked as a journalist for W.T.V.H-T.V. in Syracuse, where he was hired. He relocated to Boston in 2000 to work as an anchor and reporter for W.C.V.B.-T.V.
He subsequently received numerous awards, including the Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting. He started working as the nightly anchor for ABC’s “World News Now” in 2003. He also took over as the host of the “World News This Morning” morning show. Muir began serving as the host of “World News Saturday” in June 2007.

Took over as weekend new anchor
The programme was renamed “World News with David Muir” when he took over as the weekend news anchor in 2012. He was promoted to co-anchor A.B.C.’s “20/20” with Elizabeth Vargas, and he was given credit for the increase in the weekend night broadcast ratings. Muir started his first broadcast of “A.B.C. World News” that year, and A.B.C. News announced in 2014 that he will succeed Diane Sawyer as the host and managing director of the programme.
The next year, “World News Tonight with David Muir” overtook other evening newscasts as the most watched in the nation. In 2021, Muir took over the position that had been held by G.M.A. anchor George Stephanopoulos from 2014 to 2020 as the network’s lead anchor for breaking news and special event coverage.
