Born in Saudi Arabia, Benson spent a large portion of his formative years living abroad before moving to Ridgewood, New Jersey, where he completed both middle school and high school. He gained a reputation for covering sports on neighbourhood television throughout high school. Benson broadcast sporting events and hosted a political discussion show for the college radio station WNUR while pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University.
Prior to helping Fox News cover the 2004 Republican National Convention, he worked there as an intern for two summers, notably with Hannity & Colmes. Benson worked as an intern at the White House and reported for an NPR station in South Florida. He also televised summer baseball games in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Guy Benson, a contributor for Fox News, tied the knot with Adam Wise, his lover of nearly four years, in a beautiful ceremony that took place in September 2019 at the Charles Krug Winery in Napa Valley, California. The couple exchanged their vows in front of approximately 150 of their closest friends and family members.
