Ready Player One casting
Elle Fanning, Olivia Cooke, and Lola Kirke were the top contenders for the part of Art3mis. In September 2015, Cooke’s casting as the coveted female protagonist was revealed. Ben Mendelsohn joined the cast in January 2016. When a protracted nationwide casting call came up empty, Tye Sheridan was announced as playing the starring role of Wade in February 2016.
Simon Pegg joins the cast in March 2016. Mark Rylance joined the cast in April 2016, and T.J. Miller, Hannah John-Kamen, and Win Morisaki followed in June of the same year. Lena Waithe, Ralph Ineson, McKenna Grace, and Letitia Wright were later added to the cast when Philip Zhao joined it in July 2016.
