Alex Kendrick, who also stars in the film, is the director of the American Christian drama sports film Facing the Giants, which was released in 2006. It is the second picture that Sherwood Films has produced, and the supporting cast was made up of volunteers from Sherwood Baptist Church.

Facing The Giants storyline
With his unwavering faith, a Christian high school football coach takes on the titans of failure and fear. Grant Taylor has been a coach for six years, but he has never guided the Shiloh Eagles to a successful campaign.
Grant learns that he and his wife Brooke are having trouble getting pregnant, and he also learns that a group of fathers are plotting behind his back to have him fired as head coach. He cries out to God in anguish, devastated by his situation.
A word from an unexpected visitor prompts Grant to look for a more compelling reason for his football squad. On and off the field, he dared to challenge his team to trust in God for the impossibilities.
The Eagles will have to put their finest strength and courage to the test when they are up against unimaginable odds. What happens is a compelling tale of the struggle between faith and fear. Early in 2007, the movie was made available on DVD; on September 21, 2008, Trinity Broadcasting Network broadcast the movie for the first time.
The majority of mainstream critics’ reviews for the movie were unfavourable. 25 reviews, with an average rating of 4.30/10, and a 16% positive reviewer score for the movie can be found on Rotten Tomatoes.
“The cliches of both football and evangelical movies are gracelessly on parade in this dull, uninspired drama,” the consensus of the site’s critics reads. Based on reviews from 4 critics, the movie had a weighted average score of 38 out of 100 on Metacritic, which indicates “generally poor reviews.”
