Guitarist Randall William Rhoads was born in the United States. He was a co-founder of the heavy metal band Quiet Riot and the original guitarist for the band. He was also the guitarist and co-songwriter for Ozzy Osbourne’s first two solo albums, Blizzard of Ozz (1980) and Diary of a Madman (1981). 2021 marked the year that Rhoads was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rhoads comes from a musical family
On December 6, 1956, Rhoads was born in Santa Monica, California. Rhoads learned to play the guitar before he was ten years old and came from a musical household (his mother taught music in schools).
As Rhoads matured as a musician, his interest in hard rock bands like Mountain, Led Zeppelin, and Alice Cooper led to a change in his playing approach. Following his participation in a number of school bands, Rhoads teamed up with singer Kevin DuBrow to create Quiet Riot.
Rhoads and Quiet Riot
Little Ladies was founded by Rhoads and Garni at the age of 16. About the same time, Rhoads started playing live shows at night and teaching guitar in his mother’s school during the day.
He participated in a special programme that allowed him to concentrate his studies and graduate from Burbank High School early so he could teach guitar and pursue music full-time. As soon as the band added lead singer Kevin DuBrow and a drummer named Drew Forsyth, they changed their name to Quiet Riot.

Short but significant music career
Rhoads, however, had a short but significant career that featured the albums Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman in 1980 and 1981, respectively. Rhoads had co-founded Quiet Riot at the age of 16, and his career as a shooting star had lasted less than ten years.
Rhoads was afraid of flying
Sarzo has struggled without Randy Rhoads ever since the tragic plane tragedy that claimed his life. Rhoads reportedly wanted Sarzo to travel with him since he was frightened of flying, but Sarzo opted to stay and sleep instead. It is hardly surprising that Sarzo was deeply affected and impacted by the incident given that he was a first-hand witness to the tragedy.

Unsuccessful attempt to save the plane
In an apparent attempt to joyride over the other band members, the plane made as many as three passes over the house. Aycock clipped the tour bus on the last pass, lost control, collided with a neighbouring pine tree, and plummeted into the home.
All three of the passengers were killed by the resulting fireball, which rendered them completely unrecognisable. It was necessary to recognise Rhoads by his jewels. Surprisingly, nobody was hurt inside Calhoun’s house.

The biggest tragedy
It is widely acknowledged that the deaths of rock musicians Randy Rhoads, Rachel Youngblood, and Andrew Aycock in an aircraft crash in 1982 is one of the most tragic events in the history of rock music.
The tragic catastrophe, which could have been avoided, resulted in the deaths of three people and continues to have a lasting impact on the world of music.
Randy Rhoads doesn’t get the praise in his lifetime
Throughout his lifetime, Rhoads’ talent did not always receive such adulation. Despite claiming in 1982 that “Everything he did he learned from me” and “I don’t really think he did anything that I haven’t done,” Rhoads’ fellow guitarist Eddie Van Halen acknowledged that “He was good” despite his somewhat dismissive remarks.
In his review of Diary of a Madman, J. D. Considine of Rolling Stone Magazine called Rhoads “a junior-league Eddie Van Halen – teeming with chops but somewhat short on imagination,” which was a criticism of his playing. Yet, the publication later ranked Rhoads among the finest guitarists of all time.
