The 2023 MLB season will begin on Thursday night at Dodger Stadium between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Last year, the teams couldn’t have been more different from one another. The Dodgers, a perennial powerhouse, won 111 games and won the NL West for the tenth time in the last nine years.
Since 2011, when they last won a playoff game, the Diamondbacks have made the postseason only once. Last year, they finished with a 74-88 record.
Below you’ll find more specifics about the Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers game, such as how to watch it live.

Storylines
Even while the Diamondbacks’ record from last year appears mediocre, it was actually a 22-game improvement from 2021, and the team has a solid foundation of promising young talent.
Corbin Carroll, a potential Rookie of the Year, is at the helm, but the addition of catcher Gabriel Moreno, outfielders Alek Thomas and Jake McCarthy, and veterans Ketel Marte and Christian Walker all bode well for the team’s chances of improving.
Obviously, Gallen is the main attraction here. Last year, he went 12-4 with a 2.54 ERA and 0.92 WHIP, and he had one of the greatest scoreless inning streaks in baseball history (44 1/3 innings). He finished sixth in Cy Young votes.
When he faced the Dodgers on September 22nd, he went eight strong innings while allowing only one run and striking out thirteen.

The Dodgers Have Undergone Significant Adjustments Without Undergoing A Complete Rebuild.
For starters, Clayton Kershaw won’t be going first on Opening Day. He’s done it nine times before, and he’s healthy and ready to go this time, but Uras is receiving the credit.
Cody Bellinger and the Turner brothers, Trea and Justin, have also left the team. It’s not like the team is completely new or something (Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, and Max Muncy are still on the roster).
Nonetheless, newcomers J.D. Martinez, David Peralta, and Miguel Rojas will make an appearance, and regulars Trayce Thompson and Miguel Vargas will get additional screen time.
It’s proof positive that the Dodgers can reload their roster rather than having to start from scratch.
The pitching matchup between Gallen and Uraas looks to be the most intriguing aspect of this matchup.
