Los Angeles County On Thursday, Illinois State Police apprehended three individuals after they allegedly opened fire on a pursuit vehicle.

ISP officers were called to the 40th mile marker on northbound Interstate 39 in Hope Township, LaSalle County, at around 8 o’clock that night.

The officers tracked down the implicated vehicle around milepost 57 on Interstate 39.

A passenger in the car opened fire on an ISP patrol car near Mendota, at milepost 75, killing two officers.

The pursuit proceeded into Wisconsin, where police passed along information to the Clinton Police Department, who set up roadblocks using stop sticks.

The suspects’ car eventually ran out of gas, and three of them were captured.

Many felony counts, including Manufacture/Delivery Fentanyl, Manufacture/Delivery Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine/Base, and Maintain Vehicle for Drug Trafficking, have been filed against a Sun Prairie, Wisconsin woman named Heather N. Hyatt, 43.

Probation Violation, Maintain Vehicle for Drug Trafficking, Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Deliver Fentanyl, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of THC have all been filed against 41-year-old Brooklyn, Wisconsin resident Michael D. Winch.

Michael B. Goodman, 38, of Madison, Wisconsin, has been charged with Operate Vehicle While Fleeing or Attempting to Elude an Officer, Reckless Driving, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Maintain Vehicle for Drug Trafficking, Manufacture/Delivery Fentanyl, and Manufacture/Delivery Cocaine.

On Wednesday, three individuals were arraigned on accusations of stealing children’s footwear from a Nordstrom Rack in Oak Brook, before ramming a police cruiser and leading officers on a chase that ended on the Tri-State Tollway.

On Wednesday, Chicago residents Doniesha Crew, 23, Terrance Reed, 37, and Jaquay Shines, 25, all appeared in DuPage County Court in Wheaton. Bond for Chew and Reed was set at $350,000 by Judge Michael Reidy, while bond for Shines was set at $150,000.

A burglary, an aggravated assault by threat with a motor vehicle, and criminal damage to government-supported property have all been filed against all three suspects, as have three counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer.

Investigators found that Chew, Shines, and Reed entered the Nordstrom Rack shoe section simultaneously, with Chew carrying empty bags.

Prosecutors claim that Reed removed four pairs of children’s boots from their boxes, placed them in the bags the group brought, and then replaced the boxes on the shelves. According to the prosecution, everyone left the store at the same time.

When police arrived, they activated their emergency lights and sirens, at which point a Mazda 6 believed to be involved in the theft crashed head-on into one of the patrol cars. This is according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office.

After that, prosecutors claim, Chew took off in the Mazda, heading west on 22nd Street at speeds of over 100 mph as law enforcement authorities from other jurisdictions gave chase.

On Tuesday, CBS 2’s Kris Habermehl reported that Oak Brook police gave chase to the vehicle from Highland Avenue eastbound on the Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88), then southbound on the Tri-State Tollway, then northbound for about 150 feet on I-55, and finally southbound on the Tri-State Tollway.

According to the prosecution, Reed jumped out of the car and ran away after being pulled over, only to be caught a hundred yards down the road. Prosecutors claimed that Chew and Shines were also arrested after remaining in the vehicle.

Meanwhile at the scene, a semi-trailer truck slammed an unmarked police car. A police officer was hurt, but thankfully it wasn’t serious.

As Tuesday’s afternoon rush hour began, the response caused traffic on the southbound Tri-State to be backed up all the way to Cermak Plaza. It’s like trying to fit a bowling ball through a needle, Habermehl said of traffic.
