Outdoor Competitions: January 2 And February 18, 2023
In the next 2022–23 season, the NHL will play two games in outdoor venues. The previously Boston Bruins and the Penguins from Pittsburgh will play in the very first outdoor NHL game ever on January 2, 2023, at Fenway Park.
The 2010 January Classic between the Bruins and Flyers was the first time such an event has been hosted at the one of Major Association Baseball’s most iconic stadiums.
The 2023 Snow Classic is scheduled to be the Bruins’ seventh outdoor game in a regular season, and their first since their 7-3 victory over the Philadelphia in the 2021 NHL Outdoors tournament at Lake Tahoe.

It will be the Penguins’ first outdoor game since their 4-3 overtime defeat to the Flyers throughout the 2019 Stadium Series, but it will be their sixth outdoor game overall this season.
The second game of the 2023 Arena Series will be played at NC the State’s Carter-Finley Field on February 18, 2023, between the Hurricanes of North Carolina and the Washington Capitals. This is the first outdoor game of the regular season for the Canes.
The Capitals have played four outdoor games before this, but this is their first since their 5-2 Stadium Series victory against the Maple Leafs of Toronto in October of 2018.
